Vampires are HOT!

Not cold and dead in my world. But HOT!

That’s the fun of creating a world of fantasy—making the world your own. My vampires were turned by the Black Death. Some who survived the plague became vampires, some hunters of the vampires. So they’re very much hot blooded, with thumping hearts, pumped-up testosterone, primal desire, and all that makes them hungry for a woman’s love.Forbidden Love by Terry Spear

When I saw Dracula at Brevard Community College, I fell in love with him. I hated that he had to die. I wanted him to bite my neck! Me! Me!

Later, I saw the Broadway play of Dracula in NYC. I felt the same for HIM. He wasn’t a monster. He wasn’t evil. He wanted to love like any of us do. He deserved to be loved and to love in return.
And so in my stories, the vampires aren’t monsters. Or, at least many of them aren’t. But hunters and humans alike can be more monstrous than any vampire. Although I have to admit some of the vampires are total blood suckers—and not in a good way.

Like werewolves, they’ve been maligned for centuries. It’s time to see them as they really are. Lovers of the night, who indulge in a red glass of wine on occasion, vampire style, classy, possessive, loyal, have a sense of humor and are immortally sexy.

So what do you think? Could you find it in your heart to love the right vampire?

If so, I’Deadly Liasons by Terry Spearm offering a chance to win a copy of Deadly Liaisons, a vampire romantic suspense to die for.

Thanks so much to Lori for having me here today! :)

    Happy New Year!!!

  2. Danny

Hi Terry, so far I have only known your werwolf stories and I loved them. Funny thing about Dracula, because I felt the same when I watched the movie for the first time. Vampires are natural bad boys, but every bad boy deserves a happy end in my opinion.

  3. Terry Spear

Hi, Danny! Thanks so much! I agree! Years later, I saw Dracula in NYC in a Broadway play. *sigh* I just couldn’t see that he shouldn’t be loved in return. :) Happy Holidays!

  4. Sarah

With the whole Dracula thing, he IS like the ultimate bad boy and who doesn’t love bad boys? EVERYBODY loves them, in my opinion all of those people who can’t see why Dracula should have love too are just denying their base desires. While I adore werewolves in general vampires are such an interesting and varied subject, and not the glittery fashionable ones, the classic vampire. The ” I may be a Vampire, I may be “bad” but I’m sexy because I am so “bad”. Just my thoughts, keep up the wonderful work!

  5. Terry Spear

Thanks, Sarah! Yeah, I sooo agree! Even my mother loved vampires. Gotta love mothers who love vampires. She would never let her friends know though. LOL :)

  6. Viki S.

I also agree :). Gotta love us our bad boys. On the mom front – my 73 yr old mother has JUST started reading paranormal/urban fantasy books. Boy was I surprised.

  7. Tana

Great giveaways, and I agree who doesn’t love bad boy vampires, but I still love the werewolfs

  8. Terry Spear

Oh, Viki, I think that is so cool! Good for your mom! Mine loved Star Trek and Star Wars too. When she told her friends what I wrote, she sort of waffled about the werewolves, waved her hand dismissively, smiled and said, “You know how all that kind of thing are all the rage now.” LOL. She loved them too. :)

Tana, I so agree! I can’t live without either. Truly! :) Who says werewolves can’t be bad boys too??? :)

  9. Gena Robertson

This makes me giggle, because I’m a Gemini. Depending which half is in control, werewolves and vampires have an equal chance of getting their share of lovin’ from me! I’m equally torn – they are both DELICIOUSLY bad and perfectly loveable >:)

Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway opportunity! I’m so eager to read this book! And all of your books, Terri!

  10. Terry Spear

Hey, Gena, maybe that’s why I’m so divided! I’m a Gemini also! Definitely they’re deliciously bad and what’s not to love?

  11. WildAboutBones

I could so definitely get me some vampire (or shifter) luv. Sexy is an understatement for what vamps are. So many of them just ooze sensuality and sex. Bad boy or not, vamps are definitely for me. But I confess, I’d prefer the bad boys to the sparkly ones who will look like teenagers for the rest of their lives. Although the vamps of The Lost Boys were seriously hot – Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric and Billy Wirth, yummy. They they fall under the bad boy type.

I also saw a college production of Dracula and it was wonderful. And I too wanted poor Dracula to find his love – after all he crossed an ocean for just the possibility of it. And no, I am no overlooking the whole playa angle with Lucy.

I have all your wolf and now your vamp titles on my wishlist. Really looking forward to reading them. Hopefully I’ll win here and can get started on them sooner.

Wishing you a safe and joyous New Year.

  12. Terry Spear

    Hi, Wildaboutbones!

I so agree, no sparkly vampires!!! :) Even in my teen vampire books, they definitely don’t sparkle. I still have a couple of more blogs this week where I’ll be giving away a copy of Dreaming of the Wolf. Just check out my blog for the links. Some of the sites that I’ve been on still haven’t given out the winners so you can go back a few days. :) Like…time traveling! :)

  13. SandyG265

I think the right vampire could be loveable.

  14. Terry Spear

Right, Sandy! The wrong one could be deadly! :)

  15. Laura Kaye

I didn’t know about your vampire book! What a treat! Great post!

  16. Angela

Life’s too short not to fall for a vampire…literally it is lol…if the right one came along!

  17. Terry Spear

Thanks so much, Laura! Yeah, I have several vampire stories. I love vampires. :)

I agree, Angela! Has to be the right one or you’re in a lot of trouble!

  18. Lynn A. Reynolds

What about a werewolf/vampire mix? The werewolf could keep you warm in winter and the vampire could keep you cool in the summer.

  19. StacieD

I think I could love the right vampire. I always think of vampires as graceful and full of wisdom. They are cultured and sophisticated because of their long lives. I think we could learn a lot from them.

  20. Deb P

Yes ,if he is charming , Why not.

  21. Terry Spear

LOL, Lynn, I kind of have that. Actually. In Deadly Liaisons, when the vampire shifts, he can take the form of a bird, or a wolf. :)

I agree, Stacie! I’ve always seen them as cultured, rather than wild like wolves. :)

  22. tammy ramey

1979 movie version of Count Dracula starring Frank Langella. this was the first “horror”/romance movie i had ever seen and to this day after all of the other books and movies i have seen/read there is just something he brought to the part that no one else ever has. i’m not sure what to call it even, maybe charisma or star quality. so i guess the answer to your question would be a BIG yes, i would Sooo let him bite me! LOL!

if you didn’t see this version of the movie you should try to. Costars are: Sir Laurence Olivier as Dr. Van Helsing,Donald Pleasence as Dr. Jack Seward,Kate Nelligan as Lucy Seward,
Trevor Eve as Jonathan Harker,Jan Francis as Mina Van Helsing, and Tony Haygarth as Milo Renfield among others.

  23. Terry Spear

Tammy, the only thing better than seeing him on the big screen? Seeing him in the Broadway play! I only wished I could have been sitting right next to the stage!!! Or…could have gone up on the stage. And offered my throat! I so agree with you! :) He just had that charisma that made for the perfect Count!

  24. wanda flanagan

Theres definately room in my heart for the right vampire .THank you for this chance to win Happy Holidays

  25. Cathy P

Hi Terry! You are a new writer for me.

I adore good vampires that have the capacity to love one woman.

    kscathy@yahoo.com

  26. Terry Spear

You’re welcome, Wanda! I agree, Kathy!

  27. Barbara

I’d make room for the right vampire…or shifter…or both! LOL!

  28. June M.

I could definitely love a vampire. Especially if he could turn me and get rid of all my aches and pains, lol. I am already a night owl, so I have that much of a head start.

  29. Terry Spear

    Barbara, too funny! Great thinking!

June, you sound like you’re perfect for the role!!! :)

  30. Wilma

Oh, YES I can I can definitively see myself falling in love with a vampire, but the right one, who regrets the sorrow and deaths he has caused. Yet is still Alpha MALE in everyway.

  31. Robin

I have read your werewolf books but now it looks like I will have to check out your vampire books. I could see myself falling for an alpha vampire male.

  32. Kimberley Coover

I think there is always room in one’s heart for the right person. I think if the right person came along, I would open my heart to them (regardless if they were “living challanged” or not). Love is a very precious gift and should never be thrown away.

    Happy Holidays

  33. MJB

    Hi, Terry.
You’re spin on the vampire myth is intriguing to say the least. I also prefer the dark vamp (bad, bad or bad, good) to be the quintessential Alpha male, not a sparkly teen! I’d feel like I’d be robbing the cradle even if he was 100s of years older than me! I’d love to win Deadly Liaisons – the cover is simply fantastic!!

    Wilma and Kimberly, I agree!

Robin, I hope you do check out my vampires too! I love writing them!

    Thanks, MJB!

  35. LadyVampire

Yes, I could definitely love the right vampire. For one thing, it’s not right to judge him due to his species. For another thing, not all vampires are evil as you said. Its what is in a person’s heart that really counts.

  36. Lori H

Huge fan of your books! Yes, I could definitely love the right vampire. It’s the mystery that surrounds them-very intriguing ;0)

  37. Barb P

Hi Terry I love your wolf series and would love to read your vamp book. In answer to you question, yes, I could most definitely love the right vamp. Thanks for the giveaway!
