First full week of the new schedule. With days pretty much to myself, my goal is to get my writing work done while I’m alone. Then have the time my family is around to actually spend with them. There is one little problem I’m discovering though. I am too trained to write in short snips.
When I first started writing I had an almost two-year-old and a five-year-old at home with me. This meant writing in five or ten minute snips of time. Maybe if they really got involved in Maisy or playing dinosaurs or whatever, I’d get a solid half hour. Plus I had to keep the house clean enough we could walk through it. I was quite proud of my ability to write with the constant requests for juice and channel changes. But now I’ve discovered, my brain expects those little breaks. My dogs are quite happy passed out on the floor at my feet. The dirty dishes in my kitchen sink don’t clamor for my care. No one is the least bit interested in interrupting me…How am I supposed to write like this?
Sigh. Sad isn’t it? But there is some good news. I have a dentist appointment, a car to fill up with gas, and invitations to a birthday party to mail. So, a break is on its way. But then tomorrow will come and another big block of minutes to fill with writing–uninterrupted, blissful writing time. (insert curse)

part of my plan is to take my writing more seriously. To do this I’m doing the agent switch thing, having my web site and blog redone–and MAYBE changing the guest room into an office.
Anyhoo, Frauke at CrocoDesigns has been working on a new site look for me. I LOVE it. I’m just wild about the little wolf–take a gander. :)

I signed up for Krav Maga classes. I have orientation tonight.
I was looking at my “why can’t I be you” list, and thought what here CAN I do. Well, except for the expense, Krav Maga was an easy one. So, if you see me in Atlanta, stand back–I may be a lethal weapon. ;-) (and not just because I drank one too many cosmos at my agent’s party)

I’ve been at Disney in Florida for the past week. It was a lot of fun, but exhausting and it is taking me a bit to get back up and running.
Disney was good, bit not quite as friendly and fantabulous as billed. I also started and finished Moon Called by Patricia Briggs while I was there–a really excellent book. Fair warning–it has a romantic subplot (or two), but it isn’t a romance. Anyway, if you like paranormals epecially were creatures–pick this one up. :)
I’ll check back in with more on Disney later.
:)

Nothing like a rainy Easter to put a damper on the ole egg hunt–but on the plus side, leaves you more time for decorating with the kids. :)

American Idol or Survivor? Luckily my husband has something rigged up where we can now record local TV using our computer–don’t ask me how–but which to watch real time? Votes?
And DH is “going out for drinks” after work. You better believe I gave him the big warning that he better be home by 7–I need that recorder set up by golly!!

Today I am trying to get another chapter done on a project my agent is shopping around. Actually we have been working with an editor on some changes–which I incorporated into the first three chapters and synopsis. But then I decided to go ahead and write some more of the book also with these changes in mind.
So, here’s the deal. I have the book plotted out–the synopsis is done. But I still have to write in spurts. What I mean by this is I think a scene or two ahead. So I finish one scene then I need a little break to decide what comes next. When I sit down to write that scene it comes really fast, but I need percolate time. Anyone else write like this?
Right now I am percolating. My protagonist has just started investigating a mystery of sorts, hit the typical dead ends–called the police, talked to neighbors, now what?? Hmm? And it has to be good…Guess I’ll go take a shower. Perfect place for percolating.
