This depiction of the vampire as outsider is really appealing to me---possibly because I just saw the movie "Let the Right One In" this weekend (great film, by the way). I doubt I'm immortal, I don't have any supernatural powers, and I don't eat meat much less drink blood, but I think everyone has felt like an outsider at times, and your vampires sound very relatable to me for that reason.
