Who all bearded the retail lion today? My mom and I hit Target at 6:30 a.m. There wasn’t anything major we were going for; we’re just early risers. I did get a copy of Shrek 3 which we are watching tonight. My hubby did the 5 a.m. thing for a TomTom. He was successful and he got to see a woman have a major TV-worthy meltdown. Apparently Radio Shack chose to have only ONE of some advertised item. A man was at the store first (at opening) but this woman swooped past him and raced inside. The store couldn’t decide who was technically there first. The woman started cussing and screaming.
Life is too short. Of course, the executives at Radio Shack who only sent one of something like that should also be stripped naked and tied to a sale table next Day After.
I picked up a few books, because really, how can you go shopping and not? Interesting thing at Shopko. They have older releases (ranging from say 2000 to 2005) for sale 2 for $5.98. There were mysteries, horror and romances. I bought a Love Spell from 2000 that was just screaming at me–very over the top kind of back cover copy. Personally, I think that over the top thing is something we are all kind of missing. More and more I find myself drawn to the fantasy element of a romance, and by that I don’t mean paranormal. I mean the “this so wouldn’t happen in real life”. I want escapism. I want bold characters, fun situations (and fun can mean dark in this instance). I want characters and story lines that are turned up a notch past believability.
I also picked up a Douglas Clegg novel (I’ve never read him) and the newest paperback release of FAVORITE cozy mystery series–Susan Conant’s malamute series. I love malamutes, love, love, love ‘em.
OH, and guess what I got two boxes of Wednesday??? That’s right. Guardian’s Keep. It goes on sale at eHarlequin in a week. I love that Harlequin sells books there early, because it means I get my author copies early. :)
So, what bargains did you all snap up?

No bargains for me, since I’m up in Canada, but it sounds as if you had some luck, Lori! :)
