Kindle anyone?

Amazon is causing quite the buzz with their new Kindle reader. In case any of you have Kindle on your wish list this Christmas, I thought I’d let you know that my book is available in a Kindle edition.

I have a couple of books in eformat, but I read them on my phone–not the best way to read a book, but it is convenient when you are stuck waiting for the dentist or something. At some point, I’d like to try an ereader, but I’m a tad hung up on the price–not of the devices so much as the books. Doesn’t it seem like a book that doesn’t have the cost of printing attached to it should be cheaper than a printed version?

Anyway, the good news is, if you have a Kindle looks like they are selling books for it (right now) at a discount. So if you have one, load up. :)

In the Bag

This month Your Virtual Book Bag has something spicey. Celia May Hart’s latest release, One More Time. Here’s the lowdown…

One More TimeBack cover blurb:

“Travel back to a world where lords and ladies ruled the ton by day and wild, wanton abandon ruled them at night…

Abby Deane has no problems piloting a small plane to her new job — until she lands and realizes she has traveled back in time to Regency England. She’s fascinated by everything around her, especially the seductive Myles Hardy. If she can’t get back to her own time, she might as well enjoy the potent sensuality simmering beneath that rock hard body…

Myles Hardy can’t take his eyes off the mysterious and alluring woman who’s suddenly appeared in front of him. Miss Abby Deane talks of the future, but it is pleasuring her here and now that most intrigues him. And her bag of sensual delights holds the key to revealing her most secret desires and forbidden fantasies…”

One More Time got a top pick from RT, so if you’re in the mood for a spicey historical, check it out!

Journeyman to go bye bye? NOOOOOOO

What is with good shows not making it past the first season? Have you guys watched Journeyman??? It is fabulous–really. But this morning I log onto Kinja and find this article. Apparently, Journeyman is on the potential chopping block.

Read the interview, and check out the show! Don’t wait until it’s only available on DVD to discover this one.

Survived shopping?

Who all bearded the retail lion today? My mom and I hit Target at 6:30 a.m. There wasn’t anything major we were going for; we’re just early risers. I did get a copy of Shrek 3 which we are watching tonight. My hubby did the 5 a.m. thing for a TomTom. He was successful and he got to see a woman have a major TV-worthy meltdown. Apparently Radio Shack chose to have only ONE of some advertised item. A man was at the store first (at opening) but this woman swooped past him and raced inside. The store couldn’t decide who was technically there first. The woman started cussing and screaming.

Life is too short. Of course, the executives at Radio Shack who only sent one of something like that should also be stripped naked and tied to a sale table next Day After.

I picked up a few books, because really, how can you go shopping and not? Interesting thing at Shopko. They have older releases (ranging from say 2000 to 2005) for sale 2 for $5.98. There were mysteries, horror and romances. I bought a Love Spell from 2000 that was just screaming at me–very over the top kind of back cover copy. Personally, I think that over the top thing is something we are all kind of missing. More and more I find myself drawn to the fantasy element of a romance, and by that I don’t mean paranormal. I mean the “this so wouldn’t happen in real life”. I want escapism. I want bold characters, fun situations (and fun can mean dark in this instance). I want characters and story lines that are turned up a notch past believability.

I also picked up a Douglas Clegg novel (I’ve never read him) and the newest paperback release of FAVORITE cozy mystery series–Susan Conant’s malamute series. I love malamutes, love, love, love ‘em.

OH, and guess what I got two boxes of Wednesday??? That’s right. Guardian’s Keep. It goes on sale at eHarlequin in a week. I love that Harlequin sells books there early, because it means I get my author copies early. :)

So, what bargains did you all snap up?

A writing weekend and first review!

First it was a writer kind of weekend. Do not misread that–it wasn’t a WRITING kind of weekend. (sigh)

But it was still a good one. Saturday was my local RWA meeting. Chris Merrill lead and I was an elf. We did plotting parties. I love plotting parties. I usually try and organize one before I really dive into a new book. I think it out some first, so I know the general direction, then I enlist the help of my friends.

breakfast with wis authors Sunday, I went to breakfast with a group of Wisconsin romance writers, Barbara Vey (blogger for Publisher’s Weekly), Tina Trevaskis (Borders Stores) and Mary Ellen Rohr (Borders Stores) in honor of Tina’s promotion to Category (romance, western and horror) Marketing Specialist for Borders. If you go to Barbara’s blog, there’s a little blurb about it, but here’s a picture I stole from her. I look a little funky because I’m squatting to make sure my incredible height doesn’t block the camera’s view of Lori Handeland.

Also, the first review for Guardian’s Keep is out. Romantic Times Magazine gave it 4 1/2 stars. Here’s the blurb I have so far…”Full of imagination and novel characters, Lori Devoti’s Guardian’s Keep (4 1/2) is sure to please. Devoti’s characters and an exciting plot will hook readers.”

Have a great week everyone. I’m going to TRY and get a Nocturne proposal polished up!
