I have a new scale…

First how sad is it that with everything going on in the world this is the most exciting thing for me to post about? (I did consider a lecture on ing words and how not ALL ing words are gerunds, and basically there’s nothing wrong with a little gerund use now and then, but I slapped myself and moved on…maybe tomorrow.)

So, back to the topic. I bought a new scale. I had to buy a new scale because the children I have in lieu of chimpanzees (see previous post) killed my old $50 big round-faced industrial looking thing. I would have been more upset, but I’d been lusting after one of those new body fat slick digital jobs. (Yes, my life is one thrill after another.)

Anyway, I love it. It’s easy to use and easy to read. With the big dial thing I had before I was never sure exactly what the number was. And never confident one of the children in lieu of chimps hadn’t messed with the dial, creating my 5 pound drop in a day. But this baby is clear, and it calculates body fat %, muscle %, water %, BMI and basal calories used per day. The % aren’t necessarily 100% accurate, but they are good for monitoring. And they keep it real. I have faced that I am completely in every measure “normal” for overall body weight, fat, etc. However–this comes from putting the top half of a skinny woman onto the bottom half of a chubby one. I’m sure there is some relative–or two–to thank for that, but at least I now know the AVERAGE of my parts are good. (Too bad that doesn’t help when shopping for jeans–which is a completely different hell story that I will leave alone for now.)

Anyway, if you have been thinking of getting one of these little jewels–do it. Then you too can have a scintillating topic for your blog.
