Okay, I gave up on the V.C. Andrews book I was trying to read. I usually don’t comment on books that don’t work for me–but somehow I don’t think my little blog is going to hurt her sales too much. ;-) I picked it up because I was looking for different styles of “dark” writing, but the whole torture thing just doesn’t work for me. Anyone else out there a V.C. Andrews fan? I saw only parts of the Flowers in the Attic movie, and the premise pretty much creeped me out–not a judgement against it, just voicing a personal preference thing. Anyway, the writing was good and in the beginning I thought I would like it, but when I got to the whole torture through humiliation, etc. part, I just had to stop.
On a happier note, I am now reading Fangs but No Fangs by my friend Kathy Love. I’m being quite straightforward here and saying she is my friend, but REALLY the book is great. I’ll do a better description of it when I’m done reading it, and I’m going to try and get Kathy for an interview or something…

I think it was the whole incest part that really creeped me out about that book.
And V.C. Andrews certainly doesn’t need any more money, considering she isn’t even alive anymore.
by Nicole May 28th, 2006 at 8:21 pmI surfed in from somewhere LOL I used to read all her books when I was a teenager–and I think that’s her audience to be honest. I gave up on her years ago *sigh*
by Cece May 29th, 2006 at 8:49 amSince VC Andrews books have come out regularly since her death, which seems many years ago, I’m pretty sure they’re ghost written. And not by her ghost either. Fangs but No Fangs is a great title! I’ll give it a shot.
by Edie Ramer May 30th, 2006 at 8:37 amVC Andrews family wrote the majority of the books after she passed. I believe she died during the DAWN series, and the writing just hasn’t been the same. Heaven is by far my favorite, and I also very much like the DAWN series. After that, it seems like the topic of incest and deciept is used more than it ought to be. BUT I still collect all of her books.
