Here’s the clip.
Two questions–exactly what romances (aside from inspirationals and traditional regencies) “end” at the bedroom door? When was this? Uh, those bodices weren’t being ripped off for breathing room.
And how about the “these are empowered heroines.” Okay, but that isn’t an erotica thing–that’s been a trend in romance in general for quite some time. Kick-ass is in across the board.
Overall, a good bit for erotic romance I thought–I’m just not sure about what it said about the rest of the genre.
What do you think? Maybe it was editing…

I thought it was good. my impression was that it was comparing these erotic romances to the public’s image of romances as bodice-rippers. That may not be true (as we enlightened readers know), but that isn’t what the media thinks. So I figured I’d let it go.
by Nicole February 24th, 2006 at 11:01 pmI also picked up on that bodice ripper comment and other comments which I thought showed total lack of knowledge of modern romance fiction. They just dragged out the stock stereotypes. However, my CP, Karin Tabke, who writes for Aphrodisia and for Pocket’s erotica line, had her Aphrodisia cover shown three or four times on that show, and all in all, it put a positive spin on the erotica genre and by extension, the whole romance genre, so like Nicole, I didn’t get to annoyed about it.
